ABC Wednesday - I

How many self-portraits will we see for today's post, I wonder?

Yes, it is I. Wednesday laziness is my only excuse!

Sunrise

This morning, a few birds and I watched the sunrise.

It was glorious.

ABC Wednesday - H

H is for the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, which I visited in April, and featured on my other blog, Much Ado About Something. Click HERE to go there. It is an amazing place.

If you think outside the box, this photo portrays the letter "H" and it is a hidden hallway beckoning us outside to the sun filled day and gorgeous gardens...at The Huntington.

ABC Wednesday - G

Keeping up with the ABC Wednesday posts has become a challenge...and I'm missing a few. But let me climb back onto the wagon with the letter G:

Glasses...a vital part of my everyday existence for the past 47 years. What you see in the background of this photo is what the world looks like to me when I am not wearing my glasses.

Glasses as created objects have some very fine visual qualities (I guess that is a pun, isn't it!) I mean, besides enabling the wearer to see clearly, they are also rather pleasing to look at themselves, when you look close enough...all those lovely curves.

Someone out there spends hours and hours doing nothing but designing eye glasses....down to most miniscule details. Even the nosepads on this pair each have a small plaque imprinted with the brand name: Coach.

One last look, and then I must don my glasses and go hunting for something to photograph for this week's letter, H.

Watering the garden

The front garden is small, and has an automatic sprinkler system installed. The back garden is large and gets watered via one of those sprinklers that turn round and round, clicking as they go. The kind you attach the end of the garden hose.

The plumeria in the pot.

I don't know if it's a California thing or a USA thing, but we tend to call the plots of land in front ad behind our homes "yards." But I've decided to start calling them gardens....I think it sounds prettier and pleasanter and altogether lovely. Though, truthfully, my front and back garden have never come close to reaching their potential. I'm not much of a gardener.

Garden friends

Little spiders everywhere....it must be the time of year.

She is smaller than 1/2 inch...but look at those interesting patterns on her back, and her striped leggings. But, these seasonal friends inhabiting my garden cause problems when I walk unawares into their webs...I don't like the idea of a spider crawling around on me! I prefer to admire them from afar.

Droplets...pretend rain

It has not rained here in a very long time....and it's been ever so warm for weeks on end. However....

I watered the plants this morning and the sun caught on the drops....it looked so pretty.

If I didn't tell you, would you think it was rain?

It would be so lovely to have some real rain.....
