Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!

No one can remain heartsick who allows a glorious sunrise to speak to his soul!
But you must allow it...that part is up to you.

Someone is whispering messages of hope and redemption to us every morning.
Do you dare to listen?

Night

A little experimentation with the night setting on my camera....while driving home this evening.

The ferris wheel on Shoreline Drive.

The corner Irish pub.

The dinner line at J-in-the-Box.

The ubiquitous gas station.

Important information.

Bugaboo

This photo has been sitting in my iPhoto file for a while now....one day weeks ago I noticed a tiny little bug on the vertical blinds. I liked his shape and so I photographed him. The vane upon which he is standing is one inch wide....so that means he must have been about 1/6 of an inch long I guess.

He stood very still so I could photograph him. I couldn't see those cute little bead shaped tips on his antennae until I saw the photo on my computer. And his funny little feet.

Do bugs have hearts? How small must a bug's heart be!

Ashes and Smoke

Ashes fell for several days all over town, even though the closest fire was about 20 miles away.

This morning there were still little drifts of ashes in the driveway and packed into all the cracks in the pavement.

Some ashes are fine and powdery as in the first photo; others are larger and dark like these. I can only wonder what forever lost treasures and mementos have gathered themselves in these black piles of carbon residue.

Ships at night

The Queen Mary I, now a hotel and tourist attraction, with the lit-up cruise ship behind. This was on my way home from work this evening...couldn't resist stopping the car and getting out to capture this.

The Blurr

Driving by the baseball field after dusk....life's a blurr these days. But now I'm off for some R&R!

Into the Vortex

Visiting Roger's Gardens a few weeks ago, the geometric pattern of this large fern caught my attention. Also, it is my favorite shade of green.

Are you getting dizzy?

Layers of Views

The second floor landing....looking through glass doors, across the lobby (it's a 15-20 foot drop on the other side of the half wall down to the marble-lined entrance lobby), through the distant windows and outside, past the flagpole on the curb to the tree-lined parking lot across the street; the water is beyond but not visible.

The modern office environment...layering into the distance from once side of the building to the other. During earthquakes, those rows of hanging ceiling lights sway to and fro. So does the building. It's a moving experience!
