A sunset

A recent sunset....

Greening

The bare, barely budded twigs of wisteria in this post of January 31st have now burst forth...

...into this....
and it is still raining now and then, too.
Soon there will be a cloud of fragrant purple blooms hanging like grape clusters all along the vine. I notice with interest that the greening and the blossoming always start at the far reaches of the vine, the very tips, feet away from the trunk, and work their way inward.

Red tulips

Red is my new favorite color....well, it has always been a favorite color really....

Red tulips wrapped in red paper....reflected in the mirror.

They highlight the one touch of red in the painting.

Watery visions...

Through the open front door, early this morning, the screen glistening with rain drops....

...if you look deeper, you will see the street outside, wet, and my neighbor's lawn, green...

Evening skies

The view down my street last evening....

Color captured in a rain drop.

Plum blossoms....again.

We need the rain.....

Storm #4 is due in tonight....we are having a lovely episode of wet weather, one little storm after another....and enjoying the clean air and cool temperatures that follows.

Looking up at drops collecting on the underside of the rain gutter - storm #3.

And more rain...

Friday at last! One week to go and my time is my own once again....

Friday, and it is still raining. Dusty, gritty Southern California is getting a cool, refreshing wash.

We do have dark, damp days now and then. And we need more of them.

I love rainy evenings and lights reflected on wet streets....

Rain

The rain came early, arriving just after lunch, instead of tomorrow.

And recent warm weather has fooled the decorative plum tree in the front garden into blossoming forth early.....

Ode to a Mirrored Vase

A mirrored vase (pronounce that "vahz") was given us as a Christmas gift...I filled it with blue flowers and placed it in the back entry to my home, a little back porch that opens onto the driveway, and the door we use to come and go every day. There this lovely lily-shaped vase catches the morning sun. Well, you know what happened next....it caught the sun...and my eye... so, here is my photographic essay called "Ode to a Mirrored Vase."

What, you say, is all the fuss about? Just wait...

Lovely, no?

....a mosaic of mirrored fragments, bright with color....

....light is flung in hand fulls, like stars, across the surrounding surfaces...

And here you have it, in all its sun-lit splendor. Something pretty to greet us as we come and go.
